LEAD Brevard is committed to developing and engaging leaders to achieve a preferred future for our community, while honoring and inspiring young professionals to achieve their full potential. Our annual 4 Under 40 Recognition Award recognizes and celebrates the next generation of leadership on the Space Coast, while saluting Brevard’s top young professionals for their professional achievement, community impact and leadership.
The Space Coast community is fortunate to have a wide variety of candidates who are already showing advanced leadership qualities that deserve to be recognized. Won’t you take the time today to nominate a colleague, a neighbor, a member of your church, or someone you admire in the community? Help them get the recognition they deserve.
Nominate an up-and-coming leader for LEAD Brevard’s 4 Under 40 Recognition signature fundraising event on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Space Coast Convention Center. Nominations for this prestigious award are open to all, based on the criteria below. Professional achievements, community involvement and leadership are considered as part of the selection process.
We are seeking nominees who have demonstrated the characteristics needed to improve the quality of life in our community through leadership and innovation. These characteristics — a combination of personal attributes, commitment to community and successful experience — demonstrate an ability to lead and innovate and they signal the potential to become a greater leader in the coming years.
Your nominee must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated excellence, creativity, integrity and initiative in their business or profession.
- Provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for other others in the community.
- Clearly serves as a role model for others personally and professionally
- Showcases a commitment to his/her personal/professional development
- Is under the age of 40 on January 1, 2018 and lives or works in Brevard County

Nominations open to the LEAD Brevard community for the 2018 Rodney S. Ketcham Leadership Icon award. Please nominate a leader – create a legacy.
The Rodney S. Ketcham (RSK) Leadership Icon Award is presented to an individual that demonstrates a history of vision, service, and leadership for the betterment of Brevard.
The annual Rodney S. Ketcham Leadership Icon Award recognizes a local leader for his/her contributions to the betterment and prosperity of the community. Established in 2009, the award has previously been bestowed upon Dr. Max King, 2009; Roger Dobson, 2010; Marilyn “Bunny” Finney, 2011; Barbara Moore, 2012; Bernie Simpkins, 2013; former Brevard County Commissioner Robin Fisher, 2014; Joseph A. Duda, 2015; Dr. Anthony Catanese, former President & CEO of Florida Institute of Technology 2016 and Dr. George Mikitarian, CEO Parrish Healthcare/Parrish Medical Center in 2017.
Rodney S. Ketcham was a philanthropist, a community champion and a business leader. In 1955 Mr. Ketcham began to make a name for himself in support of his adopted town, Cocoa Beach, as its first city manager. His real estate career encompassed his professional life while our community was the beneficiary of his civic engagement. He was instrumental in many endeavors… and will always be remembered for his leadership in our community. The RSK Award is presented to an individual that demonstrates a history of vision, service and leadership for the betterment of Brevard, while building a legacy of leaders along the way. This individual has established a reputation of character, trust and leadership for others to emulate. The recipient is a community leader who is serving as a as a mentor; advancing and encouraging the next generation of leaders.

Elected leadership is one path to service in our community and we know leadership takes many forms. Business Voice’s Executive Director, Kathryn Rudloff - a LEAD Brevard 4 under 40 recipient in 2017 - says:
“Too often, the process of running for office is a deterrent for men and women who otherwise have a great deal to offer their community in terms of knowledge and experience – we want to change that.”
This is the first candidate training hosted locally in over a decade and addresses several areas of campaigning – Organization, Communications and Fundraising. We encourage you to consider participating if you are interested in running for office in 2018 or if public service is an arena you may consider in the future. Business Voice is a non-partisan organization and the training is available to individuals of all political persuasions. For more details on this candidate training program, click here
