The Leadership Brevard Class of 2016 met at the Renee Foosaner Education Center in the Eau Gallie Arts District on Thursday, January 14th. The session topic was "Economic Engines." Presenters included Lori Booker, Orlando Melbourne International Airport; Carla Funk, Florida Institute of Technology University Museums; Derek Gores, Derek Gores Gallery; Elizabeth Huy, Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast; Neil Levine, Brevard Cultural Alliance; Lisa Packard, Eau Gallie Arts District; Lisa Rice, CareerSource Brevard; and Lynda Weatherman, Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast.

2016 Leadership Action Projects and Updates
|
The Leadership Brevard Class of 2016 are completing eight Leadership Action Projects (LAPs) as teams. LAPs are an integral component of the Leadership Brevard program curriculum and bring together teams of Leadership Brevard participants with other community leaders. These projects are designed to be a leadership learning experience for the participants and a meaningful benefit to the community organization.

Nearly 100 attendees participated in the Board Governance Workshop with BoardSource Governance Associate, Chuck Loring on January 22nd. Mr. Loring's contagious enthusiasm for excellence in board governance and fundraising came through as he explained how to identify the 'right' board members, board roles and responsibilities, effective board structure and understanding boardroom dynamics. A special thank you to the Community Foundation for Brevard for their support!
